People Of The World. Bali, Save the planet

У Бали кроме красивой природы и культуры есть и не очень привлекательная сторона, это популярность острова и неспособность с ней справиться. Сюда приезжают австралийцы на выходные посёрфить, йоги поёжиться, также этот остров популярный среди многих других путешественников и туристов. За всей красотой храмов, растительности, пейзажей, животного мира, лежат кучи мусора. К сожалению, чистоту острова не поддерживают централизованно и нет строгих правил и штрафов, а от одной надежды на сознательность туристов остров чище не становится. Это тот случай, когда планета не в порядке (Дж. Карлин, “The planet is fine” stand-up show).

На фото пара молодожёнов, фотографируются при 35-градусной жаре в Балийском парке с красивыми видами, но за кадром очень грязно и много обезьян.

Together with stunning nature and rich culture Bali has unattractive side, its popularity and inability to handle it. Australians come here to surf on weekends, yogis come to do yoga, as well as many other travellers and tourists come here. Behind all these beautiful temples, fascinating landscapes and nature, there are piles of garbage. There are no strict rules and fines to discipline people, and “the planet is not fine” in this case (George Carlin, “The planet is fine” stand-up).

People Of The World. Bali, Balinese names

Познакомившись с балийцами может показаться, что всех зовут одинаково или же они себе придумывают ник-неймы для облегчения запоминания и произношения, как китайцы. Имена балийцев действительно повторяются, их всего около десяти, но дело в другом.
Каждого ребёнка на Бали называют в зависимости от того, в каком порядке и в семье какой касты он родился.
Gede, Wayan, Putu - первый ребёнок, Made, Kadek, Nengah - второй ребёнок, Nyoman, Komang, Koming - третий, Ketut - четвёртый. Пятого же ребёнка назовут Wayan/Gede/Putu Balik, что примерно означает - еще один, повторный первый ребёнок. Имена для девочек и мальчиков отличаются только приставкой i (мальчик) и ni (девочка).
Эти имена давали детям из простой касты, касты крестьян, Shudra, они составляли 90% населения острова.
Остальные 10% населения относятся к кастам: Wesya (торговцы, административные работники), их имена - Gusti, Dewa или Desak, каста Ksatria (воины, короли) с именами Ngurah, Anak Agung или Tjokorda, и высшая каста священников, Brahmana, с именами Ida Bagus у мужчин и Ida Ayu у женщин.

Meeting Balinese people you may notice that every other person has the same name. It may seem confusing, but there is a sense and a rule: Balinese name their children depending on the order they are born, and the names are the same for both males and females, differ only by prefixes (i for a boy, ni for a girl).
The firstborn child is named Wayan, Putu or Gede, the second is named Made, Kadek or Nengah, the third child goes by Nyoman, Komang or Koming, and the fourth is named Ketut. If a family has more than four children, the cycle repeats itself, and the next ‘Wayan’ may be called Wayan Balik, which loosely translates to ‘another Wayan’.
These names were given to Balinese that belong to a caste of farmers, Shudras, they made up 90% of Bali population.
The other 10% belong to other castes: Westya (merchants and administrative officials) the names might be Gusti, Dewa or Desak, Ksatria caste (the warrior caste, it also included kings) are often called Ngurah, Anak Agung or Tjokorda, and people from the highest priestly caste, the Brahmana, are often named Ida Bagus for men or Ida Ayu for women.

Это индонезийский остров, один из островов Малайского архипелага, где, наверное, хочет и должен побывать каждый путешественник.
На фото балийцы в выходной день собираются в храме Pura Tirta Empul, чтобы очиститься в священном источнике от духовной грязи и помолиться. Очередь к фонтанам источника двигается медленно, но все готовы выстоять в холодной воде столько, сколько нужно. Балийцы приносят в храм еду, и, уже намоленную забирают домой, а также набирают в бутыли священную воду.

Bali is Indonesian island and one of the Malay Archipelago islands, probably, it is the place every world explorer want to visit and, certainly, must do it.

On the picture Balinese stand in the water in line to start bathing in fountains of holy waters in Pura Tirta Empul, the Temple of the Holy Water.
Each fountain has a different significance, providing things like protection from evil spirits, blessings for fertility and wealth and also blessings for the dead.
The water is cold, but it is not an obstacle to get all the way through to the fountains.
They come to bathe and also to collect the holy water in cans or bottles to take home.

People Of The World. Italian stories, Florence, Levitating street performance

Путешествуя по разным странам, вы можете увидеть на улицах городов парящих в воздухе “йогов”. В первый раз вы будете фотографировать этих особенных уличных артистов и удивляться их мастерству. Но деда Мороза таки нет.

Под свободными одеждами этих артистов есть конструкция, на которой они сидят, и благодаря ей создаётся иллюзия парения в воздухе.

Traveling around the world you could encounter “yogis” or other “levitating street performers”.

The illusion of sitting men in the air impresses you for a few seconds, of course, but there are no such floating yogis as well as there is no Santa.

Everything is pretty simple: under performers’ baggy clothes there is a carcass to hold them, that creates an illusion of levitation.

В нашем путешествии по Италии нам посчастливилось побывать в Тоскане, Флоренции, на национальном празднике - Vendemmia. Этот праздник - сбор урожая винограда, сопровождаемый дегустацией вина, музыкой, танцами, костюмированным парадом. Они отмечают окончание трудоёмкого процесса выращивания и сбора винограда, перед не менее трудоёмким процессом изготовления вина, которое любят во всём мире.

На фото моменты праздника Vendemmia, бык везёт тележку с вином Chianti.

During our Italian journey we got lucky in Tuscany, Florence to be a part of sacred Italian holiday, Vendemmia. The festival is a celebration of grape harvest, it is features wine-tasting, music, dancing, and historic procession in traditional and medieval costumes.

Italians celebrate the end of a time-taking process of growing and harvesting grapes and the beginning of a wine-making process, to provide the world with the best wines.

On the picture moments from Vendemmia, the bull carries the cart with Chianti bottles.

Интересно наблюдать как отличаются дорожные знаки и светофоры в разных странах. В Вене, например, на пешеходном светофор подсвечивается человечек в шляпе, что в стиле этого города, в Нью Йорке нет зеленого света для пешеходов, он белый, и это путает туристов, а во Флоренции дорожные знаки превратили из строгих и скучных в часть уличного искусства.

Автор этих знаков - француз Clet Abraham, который живёт в Италии уже 20 лет.

Road signs and traffic lights are somehow standardized but are different in every country.

Vienna’s pedestrian traffic light GO is a man wearing a hat, it is so Vienna style, in NYC there is no green GO pedestrian traffic light, it is white, which can be confusing for tourists, and Florence’s road signs, in Italy, asking the question - why so serious?

Clet Abraham, french man residing in Italy for 20 years now, turned boring road signs into a street art masterpiece.

Путешествуя по Италии не пропустите старый и чудесный город Болонья.

Центр этого города тёмно-кирпичного цвета, с красивыми памятниками архитектуры, хорошо сохранившимися зданиями с аркадами и колоннами.

Болонья - студенческий город, так как здесь находится старейший европейский университет, которому 927 лет. На выходные старый центр города открыт только для пешеходов, на маленькие улочки выходят музыканты, танцоры, другие артисты, в кафешках и на улицах тусят студенты, благодаря этому создаётся ощущение праздника в обычный выходной.

Также Болонья славится своей кухней, поэтому её называют - Bologna la grassa (толстая Болонья). Попробуйте здесь пасту болоньезе, прошутто с дыней и много других вкусных блюд.

Travelling along Italy don’t miss an old and wonderful city - Bologna. The city center has many heritage buildings with arcades and columns, and it is in magic terracotta color. Bologna is a student city, because of its oldest European University, it is now 927-year-old.

On weekends city center becomes pedestrian and many artists come out to sing, dance, perform; students hanging out in cafes, on the streets - all this makes a regular weekend day a holiday.

Bologna is also known for its cuisine and even called fat Bologna - Bologna la grassa. Try famous pasta bolognese, prosciutto with melon and many other delicious dishes, as many as you can.
